OK, maybe it wasn't just my beard that has kept me from updating... I also had some issues with my zpools after upgrading from ZFS v13 on FBSD 8.0R to v14 on FBSD 8.1R. After two months, and upgrading to 8.1-Stable I was able to access the zpool.
